AS IT IS EDITORIAL

I am an older biker and equipment operator

, what I write here is an assumption or "Strictly an Opinion". These opinions are garnered from years of people watching,
which I started at age 16, while working on a gill net collector out of Namu in the year they captured the whale, named Namu.
That job did not last long as my skipper "Ursla Pete" left me ashore in Ocean Falls because I would not get a hair cut that met with his approval. As I stood on the dock and watched the Ursla round the point I realized that he had left with my grip and with out paying me. Luckily the Native Pride was sailing for Namu, I arrived an hour after the Ursla. I obtained my gear and found Pete still drunk at the bar, he argued and cursed than finally threw me fifty dollars and told me to piss off because that was all I would get. I left the bar trying to figure out what to do when I bumped into the skipper of the Native Pride. "Hey boy that cheap Pete pay your wages." He asked.
"Only 50 bucks of it." Said I.
"Well if you want to help us take on ice, we'll give you a lift back to Ocean Falls."
I could not refuse for there was no place to stay in Namu. That night I slept on the Native Pride and almost got a job as deck hand on the big Seiner. "I got a full crew sorry kid if you had been here last week well you know." I thanked him any way as I packed my gear up the dock to the hotel where I had a meal. The waitress heard my story and before I left she told me to see personnel about working in the kitchen. With the job came a room in the hotel with meals. I took the job washing dishes, it was the sixth week before I had enough money for a seat on the float plane out of Ocean Falls and home.
